Some people believe that university students should only study subjects that lead directly to a job. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Many people think that university should focus only on subjects which lead to well-paid jobs. In my opinion, this view is too narrow. Education have value beyond employment, so I partly disagree with the statement.
Firstly, universities help students develop critical thinking and communication skills. These abilities are useful in every career, even when the subject itself is not directly related to the job. Moreover, students can exploring different fields before choosing a career path, which helps them make better decisions.
Admittedly, a society needs engineers and doctors, but it also needs artists and historians. Cutting funding for the arts would be a very big problem for future generations.
Grammar "Education have" → "Education has"
Grammar "can exploring" → "can explore"
Vocabulary "a very big problem" → "a significant challenge"
The chart below shows the percentage of households with internet access in three countries between 2000 and 2020.
The line graph compares the proportion of households with internet access in three countries from 2000 to 2020. Overall, internet access increased in all three countries, with Country A remaining the highest throughout the period.
In 2000, only 20% of households in Country A were connected, compared with about 10% in Country B and just 5% in Country C. By 2020, these figures had risen to 95%, 88% and 70% respectively.
It is also worth noting that Country A saw the steepest rise, while Country C started lowest but grew faster than Country B after 2010.
Data "only 20%" doesn't match the chart (~18%)
Suggestion Add Country A's growth (+75 percentage points)
Describe a skill you learned recently.
You should say: what the skill is, how you learned it, and explain how you felt about it.
So, um, I'd like to talk about cooking, which is a skill I picked up, you know, during my last summer break. My mom taught me some basic recipes and I also watched a lot of short videos online. At first I was, um, quite clumsy — I burned the rice twice! But after three weeks I could, uh, make a decent dinner for my whole family. I felt really proud because cooking is something practical and, um, it helps me take care of myself when I live far from home.

A score is only useful if it changes what you do next.
Pick a Writing prompt, record a Speaking answer, or sit a timed Reading or Listening set.
You get an overall estimate, four criterion scores and the mistakes that mattered most.
Start with the criterion that is pulling your score down, not with everything at once.

All four IELTS skills plus English foundations: Writing Task 1 for each track and shared Task 2 prompts, full Speaking tests, the Academic and General Training Reading banks, the shared Listening bank with browser audio and transcripts, and a full Adaptive English Quiz. Reading and Listening sets are drawn from the bank at random, so practice stays varied.
Yes. Choose Academic or General Training when you register, or switch later from your dashboard. Each track has its own Reading bank and Writing Task 1 prompts: Academic Task 1 is assessed as a data report, while General Training Task 1 is a letter checked for bullet coverage, greeting and sign-off. Listening, Speaking and Writing Task 2 are shared by both tracks, because they use the same test format.
Each test has 15 multiple-choice questions on grammar, vocabulary, punctuation and English writing rules, shown one at a time with a short explanation after every answer. You get 2 tests free; the full quiz is included with any paid combo. The next test adapts to your score: more than 7 correct moves you up a level, exactly 7 keeps the same level, and fewer than 7 makes it easier.
Writing and Speaking feedback follows the four published IELTS criteria, but every result is a practice estimate — not an official IELTS band. If a score looks wrong, email us and we'll take a look. This preview demonstrates the full assessment flow using results generated in your browser.
The checkout page shows whether secure card checkout or a no-charge demo is active. In demo mode no real payment is created, so there is nothing to refund. With card checkout, every plan is a one-time purchase: 30 days for Listening + Reading, Writing + Speaking and All Access, or 60 days for the All Access 2-month bundle. Nothing renews automatically and there is nothing to cancel; access simply ends after the purchased days. A refund is available only for a first paid combo purchase (Listening + Reading, Writing + Speaking, All Access, or the 2-month bundle) at the normal price, once per customer account, if requested within 7 calendar days of payment and no more than 3 assessed Writing or Speaking checks have been used in total after that payment. Each assessed Writing submission or Speaking test counts as one check; checks used before the paid purchase do not count. Repeat purchases and purchases made with any coupon, promotional code or checkout discount are non-refundable. Approved refunds return to the original payment method. To request a refund, email info@ieltsstudies.com with your order ID. Nothing in this policy limits your statutory rights.
Not in this preview — Writing practice uses typed responses. Handwritten photo or PDF review is on the roadmap, but it is not included in any current plan. Typing also matches the IELTS on computer test format.
